SB 518 moves directly to the California Assembly
I didn't know that in California, the Assembly can directly consider a bill passed by the Senate. Seems more efficient than the U.S. Congressional method, where each bill has a counterpart (with a different bill number) and they usually have to be reconciled.
At any rate, Sen. Alan Lowenthal's office has informed me that SB 518, the parking reform bill passed by the California Senate last week, will probably be heard in the Assembly Transportation Committee in the late spring or early summer of this year.
In fact, SB 518 has already had its first reading in the Assembly. To read the proposed legislation in its latest, further watered-down language (though still very, very worthy of our support), look here.

I don't know why anyone would want to support a law that so micro-manages peoples lives. I don't drive around and park places just for the hell of it, I drive drive places because I have things to do. Free parking doesn't cause traffic congestion...The reason we have traffic is because everyone has to be in the same place, at the same time. If there were fewer places to park, I wouldn't resort to taking public transport (which would potentially double the time it would take me to complete whatever it is I might be doing), I would simply drive around longer, trying to find a parking spot. We have to stop letting these democrats control our lives...Today, it's something like "free parking," but rest assured, at some point, they'll come after you...
